So what good are the Collections Chest? I see on the Wikia it says 5 items, but how useful is buying this thing?

I have a Discount Sale in my game with the option of buying for 13 Greenies.
Also a Fuel Catalyst (50) for 5 Greenies and Duty Free for 2 Greenies.

Typically the Collections Chest contains random items needed to complete a collection. I don't think they are worth it because it's just too random; you might get what you need or you might get five items you already have.

I bought one just to buy one, I have lots of greenies.
Pyramids, Record, Copper, Plate Gloves, Enlightened Lama

What about the specialized Event ones?

Those chests contain collectibles from that specific collection. The "A Box of Love" chest available at the store for 18 bank notes, for example, contains five random items from the Valentine's Bouquet, A Plush Pleasure and Dolce Vita collections.

No, what I mean is in your opinion, would those boxes be valuable for the events that are over.

In my opinion, no. Also, event chests usually disappear when the event is over.
