I've always told my colleagues that write those kind of posts to never ever use word "soon" for anything, because inevitably if something doesn't happen within the next 10 minutes — some kind of problem not being solved or an update being stuck somewhere in limbo between us and players — it is perceived as an intentional lie rather than our collective hope it will happen soon. I'm telling them right now to always use the phrase 'update is coming later' henceforth. Thank you!
Lol! iOS players are just desperate for the update! Just understand their frustration! Take it as a good thing!

Thank you. However even if it states later an update every 24 hours or so would alleviate all the posts and questions. Also it should be a standard from the customer service aspect.

Okay, no sarcasm, and certainly no offense meant.

  • We release updates simultaneously on iOS, Google Play, Amazon, Windows, and Facebook — that is, within an hour or two between each other. That's how it's been for several years now.
  • Usually by the time we're ready to release an update it has already passed the 'review' procedure by Apple that takes anywhere from 30 minutes to several days (and it usually takes several days, because it's being done manually by someone in a far away country who sees Airport City for the first time in his life and has to check that after 7 years of updates Airport City still doesn't contain nudity or violence)
  • Google Play, Amazon, and Windows do not have any review procedures, but updates still tend to be available in 2 to 24 hours after we push the 'release to all' button in the admin tools of those
  • After we push the big red 'release' button, we have no way to contact either of those platforms directly if something goes wrong or delayed; it's a 'drop a ticket to support team and get a reply in a week' at best
  • Given all this, this is a miracle that most updates do tend to release on the same day on all platforms, but delays do occur, and we usually provide some form of compensation if delay is really long (as it was noted somewhere above)
  • The math behind special events is always in players' favor, as in we always provide more time to complete the special event by playing for free than there's shown on the timer, so if you play daily a delay in several hours or even couple of days doesn't matter much (well, except the event ratings, but there's no tech ability at this moment to do anything about that).

Thank you for the information. The extra Fuel, flight items and repair items are what I like most about the events. So I’m just missing out on that aspect personally. Also if a really good reward building comes along every now and then. In addition, when neighbors send event items before the update, it shows as P5 or F3....while all gifts can be used, I’d really rather have the event item or F20....

So those are my main reasons for wanting the update.

it happens but
Free2Play

the ios player are angry and in the alliance isnt fun this event because half player can play others not!
so maybe you give all ios player a price because no event
maybe some greenes or some gold boxes (3 gold box is price for top 25 in event)
and 50 items + 500 l fuel
i play event since beginning!

NO USING greenes, only visit all friends with "friend in need" and visit all around my airport.
i will be top 25 in event and i use until now 26 boxes from event!

this price what i write its fair to give all ios user which cant play event

in this event all low player has chances in rankings but they cant play and after 3-4 days they dont have any chance in rankings

greatings

For what it’s worth Free2play had posted the following previously:

Here's the stats: the official tool we use to launch updates on Windows has glitched 2 times out of the last 5 updates, so that's a 40% chance. That would qualify as oftenin Airport City.

GI have acknowledged delays and apologised in the past and on several occasions have given greenies as a compensatory gift.

I chuckle at the same complaints every event release. Everyone thinks that their platform is being ripped off... when Android is last to released, “Why is Android always the last to get the event?!?” Or Windows has issues, “Windows players are always the last to get the updates!” And iOS players crying, “why do Apple users always get punished?!?”. It’s been happening for years and every platform has suffered.

I completely agree that the better option would be to release updates with built in triggers to activate the events a week or more later when different operating systems (yes, it’s YOUR operating system owner that is to blame, not GI!!) can get their act together.

Crying, whining, screaming and bitching isn’t going to make the update magically appear. And while GI continue pumping out resource heavy events (often with very average rewards) every 3 weeks with only a few days break between, I don’t mind the extra few days of simple game play where I can focus on the traditional, main objectives of the game.

Take a break. Go and talk to your family - apparently they’re supposed to be quite nice people!:D:hungry:

Many thanks for your reply, it is good to hear from GI the procedure that all updates are released simultaneously, ok within the hour, it is out of your hands and into depths of Apple!!
Thank you for the update much appreciated I will wait....

Well I for one am hoping this changes in v7.0.

Back on topic, most people on here will have this event ticked off in three days at most, so I don’t get some of the outrage. However, JB’s point about communication to the customer base is fundamentally sound, if only GI had some kind of community relations manager that could post here.

With all concerns understandable we should always remember that this forum is not an official AC platform. So any form of communication from Ivan or Ur-quan is appreciated. At times I feel that we treat both our friends as our tokens and whenever something doesn't go our way we rant and summon them here for an explanation this, I feel is wrong on our side. Remember that they are servicing us (this forum) out of their own accord (in other words they are volunteering). So every time when we feel a bit of frustration let us remember to not step too hard on the peddle.

Just want to state that my comment above, was NOT meant to attack Ivan or someone else, but to the communication on FB platform. :)

I worked at a company that developed mobile apps and when we released to Apple Store it was always a crapshoot as to when it would actually appear for users to download. It’s very frustrating for app developers and users. That was years ago. I can’t believe Apple has not ironed out their procedures in this area - this kind of thing can really hurt an app developer’s brand.

We expect miracles from you but as always with so many companies involved, miracles actually become weighed by chance, red tape, or
human error. It's a great game and very enjoyable -- and what is a great game if you're not sorely frustrated and deeply passionate at times. The marks of a good game are lastability**(made that word up but it sounds good) and playability, and IMHO, AC has both in good measure. So, pulling my hair out at times is now a none-event, especially as I've lost most of it already as I enter the Gandolf years. Thanks for the game and your input Ivan :) Baz :)
